First
why the name Candie Hank ?
Candie Hank kind of appeared in my mind after we made the first song
for theproject with Hanayo and Dj Toecutter . It was the Les Sucettes
cover
version... It´s for me a mixture of Sugar Dick, Poison Candie Villain,
Old Gezzer Hook or just sugar Shit.
I always have to think about the Southpark episode of Mr. Hanky leaving
town,
feeling like Captain Nemo and goes to play the Organ.
The serious names and pretentious behaviour of my old label Digital Hardcore
got really on my nerves, when Toecutter and me did all that parties
in Berlin we thought the time is right to let that black gothic mini scene
explode to something more interesting... We got us nice clothes and went
to see Atari and Nine inch Nails completely on LSD, it was a big laugh...
We were thrown out of the place and took two ATR/NIN Fans with us telling
them
what we are sniffing in the back of the car is Coke eventhough it was
quite
dodgy Speed...
That was the day when I decided to show the people the enjoyment and
pleasure of that twisted and uncontrolled Rock´n Roll of mine .
For me extreme music is enjoyment and not punishment, I love feedbacks,
noise and weird shit and it´s not some disturbance of my anal phase
or
neccessarily a dark Gothic thing.
Candie Hank combines for me two words of two Worlds and I like that it
could
be everything in that certain moment. It gives me the freedom to do
everything, everywhere, anytime. I´m a big fan of people who either
do
high quality or total trash. I can´t stick my cane in the middle
and expect
other people to make it a wild place .
What kind of question is this anyway ?

So
there is a new album being released on Sonig soon, can you talk about
it a little ?
I find the relation to Mouse on Mars / Sonig very special and somehow
funny,
back in 92 when I still was in my kiddie room in Cologne Worringen
Jan Werner was the first professional musician coming to visit me at home.
It was also my first remix offer , Jan was pretty excited about my Amiga
Tracker Sound and I made a remix 10" which you could find in a ltd.
Edition
in the Vinyl Version of their Album "Vulvaland".
Then later when I did a few records I discovered the A-Musik Store in
Cologne and it was during the years until now always a very amazing Spot.
I met Jan playing with Lithops a few times and I´m very happy that
also
Frank and Andi (Sonig/Mouse on Mars)give me such a great response
to the Album.
The Lp itself is very mixed , it´s the material I safed during the
last
three years to put it on one LP. The title Groucho Running basically
is a scientific expression about how Elephants are able to run that fast.
" Even at fast speeds, it might seem to the casual observer that
elephants
don't run. Their footfall pattern remains the same as that in walking,
and never do all four feet leave the ground at the same time - a hallmark
of running. But biomechanists are finding that an elephant's center of
mass
appears to bounce at high speeds. If that turns out to be true,

The idea of doing a records about an Elephant I had actually a long time
ago, it was the time when there came a lot of attacks from the DHR crowd.
Shizuo who is a great observer suddenly said that I´m like an elephant,
he was saying something like "No matter how much stuff they throw
at me
and how many obstacles they put in my way I´m running just into
it and keep
standing". That was a long time ago but I always wanted to do the
Elephant
LP. Besides that they´re just great animals and nevertheless it´s
never
wrong to do the Groucho !
Musically it might be wrong for some .
What is the land where you never toured that you
would like to visit ?
Oh there´s many, Sibiria per example. Always when I was flying to
Japan
I couldn´t stop watching out of the window and watch that huge space.
Mongolia ! Mexico ! Korea ! Gobi + + + + More
You live in Berlin, can you tell us about the electronic
music situation
there at this point from your own point of view ?
Berlin changed so much in the last ten years, it´s interesting to
see.
When I left Cologne it was forever, I come by to visit sometimes but that´s
it. I love to come by Hamburg for a few days and I always have a great
time.
Berlin is for me the place in Germany where it´s no problem to do
what
I want. There´s enough room for everybody and it gave me wonderful
opportunities to work with various great Musicians of all kind of genres.
During the last years Berlin got very profesionalized, it´s not
that easy
anymore to do a party without promotion, when you stick up posters now
you
can be sure someone else puts another one on top in the next 30 minutes.
That´s basically what happens to big cities and you can´t
be a lazy ass.
I can imagine to stay in other cities but they´re all even more
hektik.
When I came to Sao Paulo I loved the chaos and I love the smaller districts
of Tokyo, people in Moscow are driven even more.
Everybody I met there was just on "Go Go Go", I think that makes
a City.

There´s many people complaining and moaning but you can´t
turn the wheels
of time back. I think that´s a general problem in Germany that many
people
are used to the german economic Wondertimes of the seventies, more and
more
realising now how fragile their security system is. Luckily I never had
that
feeling of security so it´s all the same.
What
would be the artist (a living one) of your dream to make a musical
collaboration ?

What would be the label of your dreams after Sonig
to release another album ?
You
mean the one that makes me awfully rich ? Eventhough I can do whatever
I want and they just like everything I deliver ?
What
would be the dream of your dreamings ?
The dream of my dreamings would be a new share of property and values,
in this dream little kids in South america wouldn´t have to walk
through
old petrol around BP and other Factories and we wouldn´t have to
worry about
the climachange. In Africa they would manage to sort out their civil wars
and the exploitation of the poor nations of the rich would stop. In Brazil
they would have no Corruption and the country wouldn´t be in that
financial
trap of the World Bank. Lula would not get rid of more woods that belong
to native tribes. The Buddha statues in Afghanistan still would be there.
I'd also like to know who stole the treasures of the old Mesopotamia right
after
the invasion of Baghdad and they should confess. Liars !! Aborigines would
get their country back or at least get a chance to safe the remaining
knowledge, same in Tibet. Did you hear that ? Confess Liars ! There would
not be any sexual diseases neither jealousy.
Aliens would not think about the earth of a wasted ugly rotten place...
Everybody would be able to travel time and space and make sex there too.
Paul Mc Cartney should give all his money to the Keith Moon Fanclub because
he was the last person Keith Moon met before he finally killed himself.
